Overview

The Selous Game Reserve is home of the most wild-wildlife left on the African Continent. Bigger than Switzerland and over three times the size of the Serengeti, it is both the largest and the oldest protected area in Africa. Home to the World’s largest population of African Wild Dogs (Lycaon pictus). Africa’s highest concentration of Hippos and more than half of Tanzania’s Elephants; the Selous is both vast and untamed. One of Africa’s great wild places, it is yet to be discovered by many guests to the country and leaves its visitors with one of the most intimate experiences that Africa can offer.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your Lodge/Hotel at 7:30am in Dar Es Salaam city center and proceed to Selous game Reserve with picnic lunch boxes, Late afternoon, boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River, You will discover the Rufiji River by boat, encounter hippos and crocodiles in good numbers. Some 350-bird species have been recorded in the Selous Game Reserve. Then drive back to your lodge/camp/tent for dinner and overnight.

At 0800hrs after breakfast, depart for morning and afternoon game drives gave drive is absolutely the best. You will have full day exploration of the Selous Game Reserve by 4wheel drive vehicle. Later in the afternoon return to the camp for a hot shower, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Walking Safari and Transfer back to Dar. Early morning of this day will depart for walking safari outside the reserve (possible guarded bush walking safari inside the reserve with extra entry fees) to experience Selous wilderness while walking on foot. Will return to the camp for breakfast and there after start drive back to Dar. When you arrive in Dar you will be taken to your hotel/airport and that will be the end of your safari.
